Save the Trip: Disbursement

  • How and when do you get your money?

Funds at FSU are not disbursed until the second week of the semester (after Drop/Add each term). Therefore, it is important for you to come prepared to make housing deposits, buy groceries, buy books, etc. If your funds are available during distribution your funds will be disbursed according to your choice (mail or FSU card electronic funds transfer) that you made on your Account Refund Setup (formerlly known as the Disbursement Authorization Statement).

Students are responsible for checking on the status of their account prior to/during distribution by accessing account information through their online Account Statement on the Blackboard Secure Apps webpage. Additional information on the disbursement, including the schedule for each semester is available at Student Financial Services

  • What If My Aid Is Not Available During The Disbursement Period?

If you have been awarded financial aid, you may be eligible for a short term tuition deferment. If your aid is not available during distribution, go to Account Statement on the Blackboard Secure Apps webpage to see if a deferment has been posted to your account. If offered aid is not available during distribution and no deferment has been processed, you must come to the Office of Financial Aid (4th Floor, Building A, University Center) to check to see if you qualify for a deferment.

Deferments can only be processed on the official distribution days, as listed on the Student Financial Services website.

FAILURE TO COVER TUITION AND FEES WITH EITHER FULL PAYMENT OR DEFERMENT WILL RESULT IN CANCELLATION OF CLASSES AND/OR A LATE PAYMENT FEE OF $100.00 ASSESSED TO YOUR ACCOUNT.

If you are in doubt about your status, contact The Office of Financial Aid (850-644-0539) before the tuition deadline.

  • What If My Financial Aid Does Not Cover All Of My Charges?

Tuition is due by the deadline set by the university each term, and must be paid or deferred by that date.  Be prepared to pay any charges that your financial aid does not cover. You are responsible for checking your Account Statement on the Blackboard Secure Apps webpage  by the tuition deadline to see if the financial aid awarded for the semester is available/applied to your account, or to see if a full or partial deferment has been processed.  For information on how to pay tuition or any university charges, go to Student Financial Services
